Taunton Division’s Beginners’ Beekeeping Course starts February 2017

If you’re interested in becoming a beekeeper, or have an interest in honeybees, then join us for our popular Beginners’ Beekeeping Course which starts in February.

The Course starts with a series of six theory sessions delivered by a few of our very experienced and well qualified members.

The subjects are wide-ranging and include an introduction to beekeeping (with honey tasting!), the life cycle of the honeybee, choosing equipment, siting an apiary and pests and diseases.

From April the sessions are all practical to give you expertly-guided experience of handling bees and managing colonies.

The sessions are held at our well-equipped and modern teaching centre at our own apiary near Bradford-on-Tone.

The only exception to this location is our honey extraction day; you’re invited to help harvest this year’s crop in specially equipped premises near Wiveliscombe.

Theory sessions are held on Wednesday evenings from 7.30 pm to about 9.30 pm.

Practical sessions are held approximately monthly on Saturday afternoons from 2.30 pm to about 4 pm (weather permitting!).

The course starts on Wednesday, February 22 and the final practical session is on Saturday, September 30.

Numbers are limited to 25, the cost is £95.00
